Day 11: to Punakaiki

Today we left Nelson to drive to the town of Punakaiki on the west coast. As we headed out of Nelson we stopped for a visit at the Nelson Classic Car Museum.

This museum is the opposite of the hodge podge collection we visited several days ago at the Transportation and Toy Museum. This museum houses an incredible collection of cars in two well curated buildings. All the cars are restored to museum quality. It was an amazing car collection. Here are some pictures of the museum and just a few of the many cars.

After the car museum we headed out. As we got closer to the mountains it started to rain lightly. Gradually it increased till it was a steady rain. By the time we pulled into Punakaiki it had been raining for the last 150 km. We were glad to check into the hotel and rest up before dinner.
